Sample Itinerary
Day 1: The Forgotten Fortress
Approximately 8km of undulating terrain from Sireuil to the Chateau de Commarque. Included in the tour is a visit of the chateau and cave dwellings.
Day 2: The Cote de Jor
Circular tour of approximately 10 km of undulating terrain from St Leon sur Vesere to enjoy the panoramic views from the Cote de Jor. Afterwards there will be time to explore the charming village of St Leon sur Vesere which nestles on a bend of the river Vesere between Montignac and Les Eyzies.
Day 3: Prehistoric park of Le Thot
Circular tour of approximately 8km of undulating terrain from the village of Thonac to Le Thot. There will be time to explore the park which is home to species which are similar to those which lived in the wild throughout prehistory and are represented in the cave art of the time such as European bison and the Aurochs.
Day 4: Rest Day
Relax by the pool, visit a local market, cycling or canoe trip or have a relaxing stretch doing Pilates. The choice is yours.
Day 5: La Roque St Christophe
Circular tour of approximately 8km of undulating terrain. Visit La Roque St Christophe a dramatic cliff rising 80m from the Vesere Valley with 5 levels of natural caves used as dwellings from prehistory through the Middle Ages.
Day 6: Lascaux
Circular tour from Montignac of approximately 7km. Visit the world famous Lascaux 11 which is an exact copy of the vast original cave discovered in 1944 which is renowned as the most beautiful painted cave from the Paleolithic era. Afterwards explore the charming little town of Montignac.
